Nik’s love of makeup was propelled by a childhood interest in magic and a curiosity in the human condition.
He started working in the Australian Film and TV industry in 1981, moving from the makeup department to specialising in prosthetics, makeup effects and character work.
Early in his film career - through necessity - Nik created products which were unavailable in Australia at the time.
Then, after more than 35 years working in film, a chance meeting with a cosmetic chemist led to the development of Bluebird Ink and the Bluebird FX company was born.
Some fifteen years later, and now named Allied FX Company, we distribute our original Ink plus dozens more professional products to artists around the world.
With the catchphrase “Unique products for extraordinary effects”, our aim is to create tools with expansive capabilities, allowing artists the freedom to drive their artistic vision.
