REBECCA LEE

Rebecca began her journey as a makeup artist at the theatre department of the university of British Columbia. There instead of enjoying acting classes she found herself drawn to working backstage with makeup. After apprenticing at the theatre for four years, Rebecca found a job in the growing film and television industry in Vancouver. Now she has designed over 25 shows
across Canada, in Europe and most recently in Asia. Highlights have included working with Mark Coulier on Emma Thompson in Scotland, creating Takeshita Kovac’s look on Joel Kinnamen for Altered Carbon and working with YJ Yeung and Minha Lee on Pachinko in Korea.

In 2017 Rebecca won her first Emmy for her work on Tin Man. Her second was for the TV series Shogun where Rebecca and a team of artist from Japan, using traditional techniques and some modern ones, created a method to quickly process hundreds of samurai bald heads. These two wins were such a joy and important confirmation that she had chosen the right path
when leaving the performer roles behind.

Today her work includes teaching master classes and mentoring new artists. Choosing to share her knowledge has been hugely rewarding as she passes on a calm detail oriented approach to working with actors. Collaborating with Fae Hammond on The Life of Pie was another highlight and Rebecca continues to find motivation in learning from others. She’s happiest in the
makeup trailer with her incredible team that inspire her everyday. She has recently finished designing the second season of The Last of Us and has begun prep for the second season of Avatar: The Last Earth Bender.
